The Best Outdoor Hospitality Resources You Should Know About
Give these a go when you've had your TGI fill
Hello Insiders,
Some of you have been reading my ramblings for half a year now. I think it’s time to share the love.
Today, I’m sending you the best podcasts and newsletters in the glamping and outdoor hospitality space.
They’re almost as good as The Glamping Insider ;)
Go check them out. They offer a different perspective to this baby-faced British man.
P.S. If you think I missed anyone, reply with the relevant links and I may shout you out next week.
Experiential Hospitality - Isaac French: Isaac is the best operator I know. His newsletter touches on the secrets of his success, but it’s much more than that. His analysis of his favorite hotels is great, and so too are his personal think pieces.
The Unique Stays Newsletter - Ben Wolff: Ben and his team are genius marketers that have figured out the Instagram algorithm. His weekly insights on marketing unique stays will teach you a ton.
My New Meta - Greg Mills: Greg is a great guy who lives (kind of) near me here in Alberta. He’s got decades of experience in real estate development, and he shares his hard-earned lessons in his newsletter. Great for a dash of humor too.
Ministry of Welcome - Nathan Woods: Formerly of Bolt Farm Treehouse, Nathan is someone who lives and breathes hospitality. Head to the Ministry of Welcome for guidance on providing living, breathing experiences for guests
The Lodge Social - Scott Quesnell: I only advertise products I believe here on TGI, and there’s a reason I gave Scott a 5-dispatch sponsorship run recently. He gets into the nitty gritty of short-term rental marketing in The Lodge Social.
Not a newsletter, but Matt Whitermore posts great content on LinkedIn if you’re into that kind of thing.
Podcasts
Behind the Stays - Zach Busekrus: Zach loves hospitality to his core, and that passion is obvious when he interviews operators each week on BTS. He brings on some of the biggest players in the space, but you’ll find some unknown gems on there too. Extra shoutout to Zach for being one of the nicest guys ever.
The Real Women of Vacation Rentals - Alex Husner & Annie Holcombe: Alex and Annie are vacation rental veterans, and this experience paired with their natural chemistry is a killer combo. P.S. We need more women on this list, so let me know if there are any great women-led resources I should be aware of
Slick Talk - Wil Slickers: The grandaddy of short-term rental podcasting, Wil brings on hugely qualified guests every week. His podcast network, Hospitality FM, is worth checking out for more hidden gems too.
Hospitality Daily - Josiah Mackenzie: I have no idea how he does it, but Josiah publishes a podcast every single day. Give this one a listen if you’re looking for short, sharp bites of hospitality goodness.
Good Morning Hospitality: This is the place to go if you want to keep up with all the latest hospitality news. The GMH team covers all the biggest deals, developments and industry updates you need to start your day. Shoutout Michael Goldin too, the fastest WhatsApp replier I’ve ever met.
The Unique Hospitality Podcast - Nick Purslow and Connor Schwab: I’m not going to big up my own podcast, so I’ll let one of our listeners do it for me! “I've been a loyal listener to your podcast, and it’s been a game-changer. The insights, especially the questions you and Connor ask, have been incredibly valuable. Hats off to both of you for keeping the conversations so sharp and engaging!” - Remo Kommnick, Doah House
